Nesa®
NESA®: Non-Invasive Neuromodulation Technology for Balancing the Autonomic Nervous System
NESA® is an innovative health technology designed to modulate the autonomic nervous system (ANS) through microcurrents applied gently, imperceptibly, and painlessly through the skin. This technology is especially effective as an integrative treatment, which can be applied either passively (with the patient at rest) or actively (during physiotherapy), always under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.
NESA® is applied through electrodes placed at specific points on the hands, feet, and a central electrode. These electrodes deliver painless microcurrents that travel through the peripheral nervous system and stimulate the autonomic nervous system safely and precisely.
The benefits of NESA® go well beyond pain relief, with proven results in several areas:
Improved sleep quality
Reduces insomnia and enhances sleep cycle regulation by promoting deeper non-REM sleep.
Reduction of stress and anxiety
Helps regulate the nervous system and reduce stress levels
Relief from chronic and acute pain
Effective in reducing muscle and joint pain, including low back pain, neck pain, and migraines
Improvements in digestive, uro-gynaecological, and respiratory systems
Relieves symptoms associated with conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, overactive bladder, asthma, allergies, and menstrual pain
NESA® is suitable for people of all ages from 2 years old and is especially recommended for individuals facing:
- Sleep Disorders (insomnia, non-restorative sleep, restless legs syndrome).
- Chronic Pain (migraines, muscular pain, fibromyalgia).
- Stress and Anxiety Symptoms.
- Sports Recovery and performance optimization
- Neurological and Uro-Gynaecological Conditions involving nervous system imbalances
At FisioSolutions, we integrate NESA® into a holistic and personalized healthcare approach, always focusing on the specific needs of each person. Our team is trained to assess each case individually and adapt the treatment for effective and balanced recovery.
We’re also proud to have one of the three national NESA® experts – Joana Leão Saygi – which gives us even greater confidence in the results, thanks to continuous training and specialization.
How Is the Treatment Applied?
NESA® is applied through electrodes placed at specific points on the hands, feet, and a central electrode.
These electrodes deliver painless microcurrents that travel through the peripheral nervous system and stimulate the autonomic nervous system safely and precisely. Depending on the condition and therapeutic goals, the application can be:
Passive: The patient remains lying comfortably in a dedicated room, ideal for conditions requiring full relaxation.
Active: The treatment is combined with physiotherapy, enhancing benefits by pairing NESA® with movement-based techniques.
Treatment Duration
0h45
Each NESA® session lasts approximately 45 to 60 minutes. For optimal results, a minimum of 10 sessions is recommended, with frequency tailored to each patient’s condition. For chronic conditions, additional sessions and monthly or bimonthly maintenance may be necessary depending on the therapist’s assessment and patient response.
